Not a fan of big decisions, but big tours? Then the Traunviertel Tour is exactly your (e-)bike pleasure tour - once across the entire region, from town to summit, from culture to nature.

The route is well signposted, mainly on regional cycle paths, from the Steyrtal valley via the Krems valley and the Almtal valley to the Traunsee lake in Gmunden, continuing along the transition to the Alpine foothills to Bad Hall, to the romantic town of Steyr and the Enns valley, via the Reichraminger Hintergebirge mountains and the Kalkalpen National Park through the mountain world between Pyhrn and Priel and back to Steyr.

Along the way, you can explore the regional, cultural and culinary highlights of 360° Alpenland at your own pace along rivers and waterways.

The route runs through the Traunviertel region in south-east Upper Austria. The Traunviertel tour leads from the Steyrtal valley via the Kremstal valley and the Almtal valley to the Traunsee lake in Gmunden. From there it continues to Bad Hall, the historic town of Steyr and the Enns Valley. Via the Reichraminger Hintergebirge mountains and through the forests of the Kalkalpen National Park, the route finally heads up into the mountain world between Pyhrn and Priel.

The Traunviertel Tour combines everything that makes up the 360° Alpine region on a single route: mountain scenery between Pyhrn and Priel, tranquil forests in the Kalkalpen National Park, river valleys along the Steyr, Enns and Krems rivers and lively city flair in Steyr. You cycle through ancient beech forests, past alpine pastures and rock faces, reach charming towns and always feel the proximity of nature and culture. This density of landscapes and stories - from living crafts to alpine vistas - makes the tour special. It not only takes you through the Traunviertel region, but right into the heart of the Upper Austrian lifestyle

The Traunviertel Tour stretches over around 462 kilometres and covers around 5,000 metres in altitude. It is usually divided into six to seven stages - depending on fitness level, time budget and personal rhythm.

The Traunviertel tour is suitable for people who want to discover Upper Austria in an active and mindful way. Pleasure cyclists will find long sections along rivers and through gentle valleys, while those with sporting ambitions will appreciate the metres in altitude towards the mountains between Pyhrn and Priel as well as through the Reichraminger Hintergebirge. Families choose individual stages, for example along the Steyrtal cycle path, which leads from Klaus to the town of Steyr. If you want to combine nature and culture, you can experience tranquil forests in the Kalkalpen National Park as well as local museums, historic buildings and picturesque town squares along the way. With good planning or an e-bike, the tour is feasible for many ability levels - the decisive factor is not so much speed as the joy of being on the road.
