In 360° Alpenland, your bike will take you through the mountains between Pyhrn and Priel, over the gentle thermal hills around Bad Hall, to the historic towns of Steyr and Kirchdorf an der Krems and deep into the forests of the Kalkalpen National Park.

Whether leisurely cycle paths along the water, gravel & mountain bike trails or scenic road bike tours: in the heart of Upper Austria, paths intertwine and connect two-thousand metre peaks, river valleys, farmed alpine pastures and urban places with protected forest landscapes.

Here you will find routes to suit your pace. Sometimes vigorously uphill, sometimes relaxed along the way.

Hintergebirgsradweg: Upper Austria's longest tunnel cycle path leads into the forest wilderness of the Kalkalpen National Park and into the history of the lumberjacks. Eleven rock tunnels, places by the water, rustic alpine pastures and genuine world natural heritage accompany you.

Bike & Hike in Pyhrn-Priel: 19 signposted routes combine cycling and hiking trails to create a varied whole. You can enjoy the breeze up to the changing station, park your bike and continue up to the peaks and mountain pastures.

Kalkalpen National Park & Steyrtal cycle path: the mountains in view, resting places by the turquoise river, a boat trip on the reservoir. Take a ride on Austria's oldest narrow-gauge railway or the cycle shuttle - and cycle on to the historic heart of the town of Steyr.

Between the mountains between Pyhrn and Priel, the quiet valleys around the Kalkalpen National Park and the river valleys of Enns, Steyr and Krems, there is an extensive cycle network. There are also a variety of routes around Bad Hall and into the historic centre of Steyr - from sporty to leisurely.

Whether you are an experienced mountain biker looking for challenging trails or prefer a leisurely ride through the countryside on an e-bike - you are guaranteed to find the right tour here. There are also child-friendly cycle trails for families. Tour suggestions can be found above, sorted by category(leisure bike trails, mountain bike tours and road bike routes).

Bike parks & trails promise pure adrenaline and make downhillers' hearts beat faster.

Yes, alpine climbs, forest roads and selected trails with panoramic views await, especially in the south of the region. Gravel trails lead through vast forest landscapes and combine nature experiences with sporting challenges - for example around the Kalkalpen National Park. Downhillers get their money's worth in the Wurbauerkogel bike park and on the Wurzeralm single trail (red category).

Yes, there are some family-friendly cycle paths that are also suitable for children. These paths are mostly flat and lead through beautiful landscapes. For example, the Steyrtal cycle path (R8) along the Steyr and the reservoir in Klaus an der Pyhrnbahn is ideal. There are rest areas and adventure stations along the way and you can take a short break for a swim. The river cycle paths along the Enns (R7) and Krems (R10 ) and the picturesque Hintergebirgsradweg (R9 ) also offer gentle stages with little ascent. Rest areas, bathing spots and charming village centres make them ideal for relaxed tours with children or leisurely e-bike excursions.

Many accommodation and catering establishments in the region offer e-bike charging stations. There is also a network of public charging stations along the most popular cycle paths or in the villages. This is also the case at most Bike & Hike exchange stations. Don't forget to bring your own charging cable!

Yes, you can hire a bike in 360° Alpenland between Pyhrn and Priel, in Kremstal, in Steyrtal, in Bad Hall and around Steyr. It's best to find out about the hire companies in advance.

Yes, local providers organise guided bike tours. These are ideal if you want to get to know the region better or are looking for tips from experienced guides. Bike riding technique courses are also offered.

Cycle tours combine nature and culture: the UNESCO beech forests in the Kalkalpen National Park, the historic old town of Steyr or the spa park landscape of Bad Hall are often right on the route. Natural spectacles such as crystal-clear lakes and waterfalls also await you, as do (local) museums and crafts that you can experience. You will find corresponding tips in our route descriptions.

The best time for a cycle tour in the 360° Alps is during the summer months from May to September. During this time, the weather is usually pleasantly warm and nature is at its most beautiful.
Please note that there may be snow at higher altitudes in May and October.
