Via ferratas run between the limestone walls of the Enns Valley and the peaks and rock faces around the Tote Gebirge mountains, leading upwards step by step. Steel cables, footholds, ladders, rock and panoramic views combine here to create an intense experience of nature - with Austria's longest via ferrata, the Priel via ferrata, as the ultimate. Anyone travelling in 360° Alpenland will feel the proximity to the landscape: rough limestone, clear air and sweeping views as far as the foothills of the Alps.
From sporty routes on the Großer Priel to family-friendly practice climbs in Ennstal, 360° Alpenland offers secured climbs of varying degrees of difficulty. Many of the routes are nestled in the mountains between Pyhrn and Priel and combine alpine terrain with easily accessible approaches.
The offer ranges from easy climbs for beginners to challenging passages at difficulty levels C/D and above. Those gaining their first experience should choose shorter routes with manageable altitude metres.
A via ferrata is continuously secured and combines hiking with climbing. In contrast to sport climbing, you follow a fixed route on a steel cable and do not need your own safety equipment on the rock.
For easy climbs, mountain experience and a good judgement of your own abilities are often sufficient. For longer or more difficult routes, it is advisable to be accompanied by an experienced mountain guide or alpine professional
The basic equipment includes a helmet, climbing harness and a certified via ferrata set. Sturdy mountain boots and gloves increase comfort and safety.
