Hinterstoder - mountain world in the heart of Upper Austria

Views of tideways and clear lakes. Footsteps in time with the mountains.

Hinterstoder is nestled between Großer Priel and Warscheneck - where the mountains in the south of 360° Alpenland characterise the horizon. In summer, hiking trails and alpine paths lead through the Tote Gebirge, past the tranquil Schiederweiher and up to sweeping views over the Stodertal valley. In winter, the Hinterstoder Höss ski area leaves its tracks in the snow, while winter hiking trails and cross-country ski trails offer peace and quiet.

What makes this place special is the interplay of alpine vigour and a down-to-earth attitude. Hut hosts cook with ingredients from Upper Austria, tell of old ways and new ideas. Between the mountain railway, panoramic tour and sunrise at the summit, there is space for conscious moments - active or mindful, sporty or enjoyable.

Hinterstoder in the Alps thus becomes a place where nature, exercise and encounters come together naturally - close to the town of Steyr, close to the Kalkalpen National Park and yet very close to you.
